I blogged earlier this year in my New Year’s Resolution post that losing weight was a big goal for me in 2015. I felt so energised and motivated at the beginning of the year – I got back into to the gym and was loving it! Sadly I must have been loving my Popstar Aerobics class a little too much as one wrong move dancing to Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off and I pulled a muscle in my back gahhh! My clinical masseuse (get me!) recommended I lay off exercise until it was better….and four months later my back is fine again…but I still haven’t been back to the gym! Doh! As a result, my grand plan of losing a slow and steady 1-2 pounds a week has gone a bit too slowly (ie not at all!) and I’m nearly the same weight I was at the beginning of the year, when I had hoped to be a stone lighter by now. With summer fast approaching and a friend’s wedding in a couple of weeks it seemed to be the perfect time to take up the #SlimFastChallenge*
I’ve never tried SlimFast myself but have of course heard of it as it is such an old and iconic brand in the world of weight loss products. Their 3-2-1 Plan is supposed to be super easy to follow – you simply have 3 snacks a day (either from their range or a selection of healthy fruit, veg and nuts), replace 2 meals a day with one of their shakes or meal bars and make 1 healthy meal of 600 calories yourself (and they even provide you with some tasty looking recipes). By following the plan you should consume 1200 – 1400 calories a day which, combined with regular exercise, should result in a slow and steady weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week. Perfect!
I’ve never tried a meal replacement diet before (unless you count the juice cleanse I tried, which is pretty much all food replacement – not advisable!) but anything which will help re-kick start my weight loss journey sounds good to me! I’m also hoping the #SlimFastChallenge will help me feel as good and confident as can be at my friend’s wedding at the end of the month. Given that the plan aims to help you lose weight at a healthy 1-2 pounds a week, I’d be really happy with a 2-4 pound weight loss over the 2 weeks (though obviously any more would be amazing!)
SlimFast sent me a HUGE parcel with everything I’ll need to complete 2 weeks on the 3-2-1 Plan. Everything sounds pretty tasty (and not at all like standard “diet” food!). I’m not a big fan of fruit flavoured things so have been sent lots of their chocolate themed shakes, bars and snacks. YUM!
