As I said in my Christmas Wish List post, I absolutely adore buying Christmas presents for my friends and family. There really is nothing better than taking your time to seek out the perfect gift and then seeing their expressing of (hopefully) joy as they open it up on Christmas morning. I especially love buying for the girls in my family – my mum, cousins and sister in law – as I think there is just so much choice for girls, with lots of options for all budgets and ages. I thought I’d put together a little post with some gift ideas for buying for the lovely ladies in your family.
I don’t know any ladies who wouldn’t be thrilled to have a luxury hair care set under their tree this Christmas. Luxury shampoo and condition is such an easy way to pamper yourself at home and Paul Mitchell products are an iconic salon brand. This Art of Volume Gift Set* comes with a 300ml bottle of Extra Body Daily Shampoo, 300ml of Extra Body Daily Rinse and 250ml of Extra Body Daily Boost to really give your hair a boost. It all comes packaged in this cute carry case with lovely illustration on. If volume’s not your need, there is a whole range of different hair care sets in the same collection.
Who doesn’t love cosy socks in winter eh?! Whilst it’s stereotypically a boring present, I always love it when I get given socks. They’re so practical, you can never have too many and when it comes to Christmas time, the fluffier the better! I love these penguin ones from Next – so adorable and perfect for the entire winter season (and great for fans of that John Lewis advert).
Everyone needs a good hand cream to get them through the winter and the most recent ingredient to cause a buzz in the beauty world is snail gel. With a huge band of celebrity fans, snail gel is said to have anti ageing properties and helps damaged skin regenerate itself. Perfect for keeping dry, cracked skin at bay. The Dr Organic Snail Gel Hand & Nail Elixir* is also natural without any nasty SLS or parabens, so is great for delicate skinned lovelies too.
I don’t know a single person, male or female, who doesn’t like candles. Scented or decorative, candles always make a great gift as, like the high end shampoo, they’re a really easy, low key way of adding some luxury to your home. I love coming home on a dark winters evening and lighting heaps of candles to give my living room a cosy glow and festive smell. A few weeks ago I spotted these Ted Baker candles at the House of Fraser SS15 Press Show and and fell in love with the packaging and city names of the range. They smell yummy too!
Well it wouldn’t be my gift guide without including a nail polish set now would it?! I got given my first ever Ciate nail polish set this year and was so impressed. The formula was great, the colours were lovely and the presentation was amazing, and it looks like they’ve done it again with this year’s Candy Cane House set! Look how cute it is! The four glitter polishes inside are really pretty and even have festive fragrances!
Now it may be a massive stereotype that ladies love to bake, but most of my friends and family really do, and I’m certainly a big fan too! With the rise of shows like the Great British Bake Off, baking is becoming more and more popular and I think a recipe book is a really nice gift. They’re always so lovely to leaf through and look at the drool-inducing photos, as well as give lots of fun ideas to try throughout the coming year.
Another hair care set! This little duo from Cloud 9 is ideal for the winter months as it helps protect your locks from heat damage caused by electric styling tools. I have quite fine hair so it dries naturally really quickly in the summer months. There’s no chance of me leaving it to itself in freezing cold winter London though, and I always notice my hair is much dryer and coarse as a result of being blasted with a blowdryer daily. The Magical Potion spray helps your hair dry quicker so it is exposed to heat damage for a shorter amount of time and also offers extreme protection against any heat it is exposed to. The Magical Remedy creme restores healthy hair, acting as a conditioner, detangler and repairer all in one! Sounds pretty magical eh!?
A bit like cosy socks, I think you can’t go wrong with a good scarf either! Whether you go for a more delicate daytime accessory or a full on winter warmer, there’s something really lovely about receiving a scarf. No matter how many you have, you can always fit more into your collection! I love this reversible houndstooth and blue and green tartan print one from New Look as it’s oversized, making it super cosy for wrapping up warm and the mix of prints means it will suit a variety of tastes. Great gift!
