I’ve had a really lovely week this week! It all kick started with some quality time with my mum Christmas shopping (which you can read about here), I’ve also had two really fun blog events, two press days, seen my girlfriends and had a lovely evening with my boyfriend celebrating our six year anniversary. Awww!
On Monday I headed to the VoucherCodes.co.uk Swap Shop. I went to one earlier in the year (more on that here) and was so excited to be invited again. The idea is that you bring along 5 items of clothing and swap them with other bloggers in a really fun, cost effective way of updating your wardrobe, and any clothes left over are donated to charity. Winning all round! I had a really good clear out and ended up taking 2 nude bags, a leather belt with cute little pouch, Union Jack print scarf, never worn monochrome check duster coat, never worn white scuba dress and BNWT Minimum Fashion vest top. I came away with a white shirt from H&M, white quilted dress from Dorothy Perkins, white lace top from Missguided, black jacquard dress and a white jewelled dress. As well as swapping clothes, I also made a jewelled headband, had some delicious Anna Mae’s Mac and Cheese, washed down with gin cocktails. I was also mega excited that Twistina the ridiculously talented balloon artist was there again and this time made me a parrot complete with feathers! How cool is that?!
I went to the Voucher Codes Swap Shop with my blogging partner in crime Donalyn from Love From Twinkle. I always have a really lovely time with Donalyn and it was so fun hanging out with her as we shopped the swaps. I also got to finally meet the lovely Katy from Little Miss Katy, who I’ve chatted to lots on Twitter and followed her blog for ages so it was so nice to get together in person at last. I’ve been so lucky to meet so many lovely people through blogging and here’s a photo of Donalyn, Katy and I (and my balloon parrot!) – and surprise, surprise, I’m not looking at the camera!!
Tuesday marked 100 years since the end of the First World War. I was lucky enough to see the poppies installation at the Tower of London in September and thought the giant poppy in Kings Cross station was another lovely tribute and was complimented by red lighting across the ceiling of the concourse.
On Wednesday I went along to the Nica SS15 press day to check out their new range of handbags for the upcoming season. They had some absolutely beautiful pieces and I loved these two mini bowling bags. The monochrome herringbone is really classic and I love how chic the lilac toned grey one is. Swoon!
Also on Wednesday, I had another amazing blogger event, this time hosted by Joe Blogs in association with GiffGaff and run by Best LDN Walks. A huge crowd of us met at Waterloo and were treated to a hilariously commentated walk around the most Instagrammed places in the city. I will have a full post up about this walk but here’s a little pic I took of the London Eye lit up which looked absolutely stunning. Oh London how I love you!
On Friday I had my second press day of the week, and this time it was to check out the Spring / Summer fashion and homeware offerings from House of Fraser. I started by checking out the clothing and was excited to see that the monochrome and embellished trends look set to continue into next year and there were some absolutely gorgeous pieces on display.
After drooling over all the clothes at the House of Fraser Press Day (not literally, that wouldn’t have gone down well!) I went and checked out the homeware section. Oh em gee it all looked soooo pretty!! There were lots of gorgeous bright flamingo and pineapple prints and also a more subtle, chic range. I loved this cushion trio which echoed the embellished trend from the clothing area and also gave a nod to the amazing Art Deco prints of the 1920s. Must. Buy. This. Duvet. Set!
On Saturday I popped to Oxford Street to meet two of my best friends for a little look round the shops and a quick catch up in Costa. I had a decadent hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows – just what the doctor ordered!
On Saturday my boyfriend took me out to celebrate our six year anniversary (which was actually whilst we were away on holiday a few weeks ago). We decided we fancied some Chinese food and, as recommended by Twitter, tried out Royal China on Baker Street. The food was pretty nice and we really enjoyed the duck pancakes and this epic starter platter! We then headed down to the cinema to see Interstellar which wasn’t the best film I’ve ever seen! Still it was really lovely to celebrate and have an evening out with my favourite.
I live in Brixton in London. I eat out far too much, am always planning my next trip and have a borderline unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter.
