Primark Wonder Dress!
I just wanted to share these amazing dresses with you, which I have recently acquired from Primark. Or actually, more specifically, it’s 1 dress in 5 different patterns / colours . I have blogged about a couple of them before as part of my 30 Day Snap Challenge posts, but thought they’re so lovely (and I’ve now got so many!) and Primark are constantly releasing new versions, they deserved their own post!
It’s a really simple sleevless shift dress which is about mid-thigh length, with a t-shirt style round neckline. It’s got lovely pleats below the neckline which are very flattering for a larger chest and also add interesting detail. It also comes with a simple tan belt which can be used to give a little more shape, or removed for a floaty silhouette skimming outline. For just £13 from Primark, I was so impressed as they can be dressed up or down and styled in so many different ways. Bargain!
I first bought the pale yellow and cream with pastel flowers back in April as possible dresses to wear to my Uncle’s wedding (though I have seen them very recently in my local store too). I ended up wearing the pastel flowered version, with simple silver jewellery, a little black cardigan and black tights and shoe boots. It was a really good choice for an April wedding, as the light colour and pretty flower pattern were quite Spring-time appropriate, but the black accessories suited the grey, cold weather and meant I didn’t look too summery! I was a bit nervous about wearing Primark to a wedding, but I think the dress looks like it’s worth a lot more than £13, and it got lots of compliments!
I ended up wearing the yellow dress for another wedding the month after, and this time jazzed up it’s plain pale colour with a bold, bright statement necklace from Zara (£19.99) and re-wore the little cardy, black tights and shoe boots. This time I removed the belt as I wanted the necklace to be the main focus. Again I was really happy with the overall look and was bright enough for the sunny weather, but not too summery that I looked out of place.
They’re such comfy, easy to wear dresses I really wanted to wear them to work, but I’m quite a messy person (seriously, if I wear white to work it will come home covered in biro and printer ink!) and didn’t want to ruin them.
So I was over the moon that whilst shopping in Primark last month I saw they had the same dresses but in new patterns and colours, wahoo!! I quickly snapped up the plain cream, navy blue and cream with red woodland bird pattern versions. Last week I saw they’d also bought out a bright coral version and a grey rose print one too. One of my favourite things about Primark is that they often release the same item in several colours / patterns, so if an item works for you, you can build up a collection, just like I have!
I was so happy to add these 3 new versions to the family, which will definitely be my work staples! I love navy blue, it’s my go-to colour which suits my skin colour and also hides a multitude of sins (inclduing biro and printer ink!!) You can’t go wrong with a plain neutral dress like the cream one, and the red woodland birds one is a nice way of injecting some colour into my outfit. I don’t usually wear red so it’s a nice way to try out this colour in quite a subtle way.
