So I’ve made a bit of a change – switching my Fortnightly What I’ve Been Up To posts to monthly.
I’m still getting back in my scheduling groove and finding that a fortnightly post means I end up not posting other content I’d like to.
So we’re gonna try monthly and see how we go! A bit like my monthly Favourites posts, but more lifestyle / activity / events based rather than products and things.
So here we go – what I got up to in February…
I love Friends. Much of my childhood was spent hunting in Woolworths for the videos in the sale, and my fave Christmas was one when my cousin and I stayed up till 3am pouring over the Friends quiz book my grandad had given me.
My work friends and I were DELIGHTED when we found a Friends pub quiz on a pub on a boat on the Thames! Sounds amazing right? But was it….. (Spoiler – no it was awful!)
Read more about it here (and L O L at some of my favourite Friends moment memes in my post)
Is there any better feeling than getting new nails?!
Having rocked bright white claws for the last few months I decided to go back to my other favourite colour – Go Ginza by Essie.
It’s just such a beautiful shade of pink – blue toned giving it a purple edge so it’s not too sickly girlie but still looks super pretty and feminine. Also how beaut is my Bohomoon opal ring looking here?!
We all know I love a good mooch around the shops. Well luckily for me so does Andy! Especially if it’s home ware related.
We headed down to the new Ikea store in Greenwich which is also next door to a huge retail park. Oh my Christ we had a right old time!
Matalan, B&Q, Sainsbury’s Home, Primark, Poundland, Homesense. We hit them ALL!
We knew we wanted to buy a new shower head, a bread knife and an A2 size frame. And if we happened to see a cute candle or pot plant we’d be open to it. Well….
We came home with 2 pillows, a throw, 9 candles, 10 plants, 3 pot plants, a glass, a bookcase and a partridge in a pear tree.
We had so much fun finding new homes for everything and I absolutely love how cosy, green and homely our little flat looks now!
I still can’t cut bread smoothly though.
I turned 33 on Valentines Day! I had the Thursday and Friday off work and Andy organised a surprise day of fun to celebrate which was so sweet.
First stop on Andy’s magical mystery birthday tour was London Zoo, one of my favourite places in London. Good start babe good start!
We got there just as it opened and it was so empty! We had some great views of the animals, were able to get nice and close to the glass without having to navigate round other people and could spend as long as we liked at each enclosure without being in other people’s way. Perfect!
This was particularly great at the Penguin Beach (which is always rammo) and the lions, where we spent ages just watching them sleep with their faces so close to the glass. So so beautiful. We also got some great views of the silver back gorilla Kumbuku who was having a lovely little sunbathe.
We headed to Hakkasan for lunch which was stunning. Andy had never been before and was keen to see why I’d been banging on about it for the last year and half!
We had the Dim Sum 8 and sesame prawn toast with foie gras to start – honestly these are in the top 10 things I’ve ever put in my mouth!
Main course we went for the Stir-fry rib eye beef with lily bulb in black bean sauce, and Stir-fry Peking Style Duck with dried chilli, Szechuan pepper, baby leek and onion and then rounded off the meal with their famous Jivara Bomb – with hazlenut praline, milk chocolate and rice crispies and popping candy. SO GOOD!
I love going to the theatre but hadn’t been in a long time due to lack of funds boooo. Andy surprised me by rounding off my birthday celebrations with a trip to see The Mousetrap – the world’s longest running play.
It’s a clever whodunit written by Agatha Christie and we both really enjoyed it. Check out my full review here.
Well we couldn’t celebrate Magical Me (10 points to Gryffindor for whoever gets that HP mention) without going to see the heroes that made it all happen could we?!
We headed to see my parents on the Sunday and had a really lovely day chilling and catching up with them.
Sue had also made a really lovely lunch of beef Thai filo pie followed by homemade sticky toffee pudding. D I V I N E.
Remember in my last What I’ve Been Up To post I said I’d been nominated for Hero of the Month at work?
Well I only went and bloody won didn’t I?!
I was well chuffed and proudly had the little trophy on my desk for the month of February. I’ve also bought a cute new suitcase with my prize gift vouchers, which I thought was pretty apt considering I work for a travel company.
Need to book some weekends away now so I can use it!
My cousin’s baby got Baptised at the end of the month.
It was such a lovely day to catch up with the family, some of who I hadn’t seen for a couple years.
The church it was held in was stunning, and whilst I’m not religious in the slightest, we did enjoy the child friendly hymns that had been chosen for the service.
I’d dearly love to get He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands out my head though!
That’s February fun all done.
Lols that I switched these posts from Fortnightly to monthly and still couldn’t get it up in decent time! Work has been crazy busy the last few weeks and I’ve been trying to up my fitness game. But more on that in my March round up….
I live in Brixton in London. I eat out far too much, am always planning my next trip and have a borderline unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter.
