I blimmin love a monthly favourites post! I sadly didn’t write one for February as it was a bit of a crap one but March has been much better and I’ve been loving LOADS! Whilst Feb was spent dealing with a break up and consequentially moving house and crying ALL THE TEARS, March has been spent picking myself back up and actually having a pretty awesome time! Sure, it’s been hard and I’d be lying if I said there hadn’t been any tears, but I’ve had an action packed time with my friends and family, including 2 girls weekends, several nights out, a wedding, a first birthday party, holiday planning and a lot – A LOT – of prosecco!
I am writing a whole post about my girls weekend in Broadstairs so won’t harp on about it too much here but it was AMAZING! My four best friends from school and I booked the trip to celebrate our thirtieths and had such a lovely time having long beach walks, playing board games and exploring the quaint little Kentish town. I’ll have my full post up in a week or two so will tell you more about it then!
Despite having initially felt about 60 when I first downloaded this app as I simply could not get to grips with how it worked, I have now become OBSESSED with Snapchat! I love being able to have a nosy into everyone’s days and I’ve slowly but surely been becoming braver and started uploading my own videos as well as just photos. Sadly someone already nabbed my usual moniker so if you want to follow me my user name is pickleemsy. I’m always looking for more people to follow too so do leave your usernames in the comments below!
On Easter Sunday I went to see Little Mix at the O2 with my gal pals. We booked tickets waaaay back in October so were so excited when the day finally came! We headed to The Breakfast Club for dinner beforehand (where several portions of Creme Egg Pancakes were ordered YUM!) and then boogied off the day’s chocolate calories at the Get Weird Tour. The girls were absolutely AMAZING and they looked incredible! Seriously, I need to put a picture of Jesy on my fridge – what a babe! They sang all my faves from their new album (Lightning and ADIDAS were awesome, and don’t even get me started on Black Magic!) as well as their classic hits like Change Your Life and Salute. It’s the third time I’ve seen them live and I can’t wait to see them again!
I’ve written before about how one of my favourite things to do is have a movie night in with my dad. Well now I live back at home we’ve had several and one of my favourite films we watched this month was What We Did On Our Holiday. Featuring some British acting icons like Billy Connolly, Rosamund Pike and David Tennant it tells a heart warming and hilarious tale of family, relationships and the meaning of life. It’s a really easy watch that had me laughing out loud and even shedding a few tears. It’s perfect for Sunday night viewing with the fam and is on Netflix. Get watching!
This is the second whale / SeaWorld related book I’ve read in the last 6 months – I just find it all so interesting. I wanted to be a killer whale trainer when I was little until I realised at a sadly young age I just wasn’t the type of girl who would ever look good in a wet suit! After watching Blackfish I realised that was definitely a good thing! Death at SeaWorld takes a deeper look at the history and scientific facts about orcas and why they are not suitable for captivity at institutions like SeaWorld and follows the career of Dr Naomi Rose who is a key advocate in the fight against captivity. It’s quite factual with a lot of stats and figures, so probably not one to read on the sun lounger this summer, but I’d definitely recommend it to someone wanting to know more about the issues surrounding Blackfish.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
I decided to treat myself to the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara as a little birthday gift. It’s the most expensive mascara I’ve ever bought at £19.50 a tube but I bloody love it! My eyelashes, whilst naturally long and relatively curled, are really sparse and I’m always hankering after a mega volume boosting mascara. I love the Seventeen Falsifeye HD Mascara as an everyday but thought I deserved something even better and feel so confident when wearing Better Than Sex. It really bulks out my lashes without making them clumpy and adds even more lift and curl too. I will definitely be buying this again and again and again. Major packaging goals too!
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS LIPSTICK! I’ve really been loving nude lips recently and this Barry M Satin Super Slick Lipstick is absolutely PERFECT! The colour is just the right shade of brown toned pinky nude and is so creamy it’s so comfortable to wear. I love the light sheen it gives – not too glossy – and it just goes with absolutely everything and all occasions. My only criticism is that it is slightly too soft and creamy and I’ve had to buy a second one as I accidentally smushed my first one! I definitely want to pick up the other 5 colours in the range.
Spring has finally sprung and I am loving the lighter morning and evenings, especially as we’ve even been having some proper sunshine! Another thing I treated myself to for my birthday last month was a pair of bloggers fave – the Quay Australia My Girl sunglasses. Yes, they’re slightly obnoxious but no, I don’t care! I love the oversized cat eye shape and the blue mirrored lenses are so fabulous. Roll on summer!
My final March favourite is this utterly adorable gold initial necklace which my brother and his fiancé gave me for my birthday. Thanks loves! I’m obsessed with anything with my initial on and love the font of this E. It’s so dainty and the little diamanté stone is also really pretty. I’ve worn this necklace literally everyday in March and have had so many compliments on it. I believe it’s from Oasis so have a looksie to see if they have your initial too. Thanks Will and Hels – I LOVE IT!
I live in Brixton in London. I eat out far too much, am always planning my next trip and have a borderline unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter.
