My best friend from uni now lives in Oxford and I love going to visit her and wandering around the beautiful historic city. One shop I’ve always admired from the outside, but have never ventured into is Boswell & Co – a grand independently run department store which dates back to 1738. Every time I visit Ruth I think I must go in for an explore, but we always seem to run out of time. So imagine my delight when Boswell & Co got in touch with me to see if I’d like to try some of their favourite products on sale in their beauty hall. Yes please! I thought I’d show you what I got sent and my first impressions.
I received a really beautiful little package with a real range of products – none of which I’d ever tried before.
This was the first thing I opened up and was absolutely delighted that it’s aesthetic seemed to match that of historical Boswell & Co perfectly! This is the exact sort of thing I would have admired in my grandmother’s bathroom as a child. I’m a sucker for anything old or quirky looking! And quirky is definitely the word I’d use having read the label properly! On the front is says “In all we do, let us be generous, fair & loving to Spaceship Earth and all its inhabitants. For we’re ALL-ONE OR NONE! ALL ONE!” Love it! The product itself is also really cool and quirky – it has so many uses! You are supposed to add drops of the soap to water to then be used as a cleanser, body wash, shampoo, shaving foam, toothpaste, bath oil, decongestant and can even be used as a household cleaner too! Crazy! I’m not sure how I feel about using something to clean my skin that can also be used to clean my kitchen floor but it does say that it’s made from pure, organic ingredients. It also has an amazing peppermint smell that definitely reminds me more of beauty products than cleaning products! The only question is, what thing to use it for first?!
I’ve always wanted one of these body brushes purely as I think the classic beechwood style looks really lovely in the bathroom! The brush features natural bristles which help to exfoliate and massaging nodules on the other side, which are great to help circulation and improve skin tone. I can’t wait to add this to my pamper routine. The bristles are really soft and the long handle on the brush means it should be really easy to use.
The only product I’ve ever used by Weleda is calendula ointment which is good for healing cuts and grazes. I haven’t come across any of their beauty products before but this one smells amazing! I love that it includes all natural products and promises to help soften fine lines and preserve elasticity and vitality. I swear since I turned 30, hundreds of wrinkles have popped up on my face and it’s literally all I see when looking in the mirror! Hopefully this should help get rid of some of them – or at least stop more appearing!
I was sent a few of these little moisturiser tubes, which are a perfect size for travelling. It’s a really thick moisturiser which I don’t think I’d like to use on my face as my pores get blocked easily and I’m prone to milia, but it will be amazing for using on my body. I think this will be fantastic for putting on my elbows and feet at night to sink in and leave them nice and soft, ready for getting my arms and tootsies out this summer! It will also be a great hand moisturiser as its really thick and rich, and in a perfect handbag sized tube.
This mask sounds amazing! Promising to deeply cleanse and draw toxins out from blocked pores, it is designed to minimize and tighten pores and leave the face feeling refreshed and looking energised. My skin is quite dry so anything which promises to make it look radiant is a winner with me! It contains no parabens or SLS which is fantastic for me as I have very sensitive skin, and it’s a gel consistency which I really like as I find it really refreshing. I love the green and wood packaging too – so pretty!
This little bottle sounds like it will have a big impact! It includes avocado oil which is apparently scientifically proven to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and skin tone. Haha do you think Boswell are trying to tell me something?! Designed to be applied before moisturiser and make up, the Divine Face Oil is said to create a really rich and hydrating base.
*Thanks so much to Boswell & Co for inviting me to try out these lovely products. All thoughts are honest and my own. For more information please see my Disclaimer Page.
