I got a lovely surprise parcel in the post last week – a selection of products from the newly launched Miss Beauty London range, which is exclusive to PoundWorld and every item is just £1! I thought I’d try out the 4 nail polishes I received for this week’s Midweek Manicure post. The shades I’ve got to play with are 374 Tiffany*, 375 Candy Floss*, 382 Malibu* and 387 Starkers* – how fab are those names?!
Tiffany is a really pretty mint green colour, obviously named after the iconic packaging of the high end jewellery store. Excitingly it also has a very subtle diamond shimmer running though it too. It’s a really bright pretty colour on the nail and perfect for summer.
Candy Floss, as you’d expect is a light sugary pink. On the nail however it’s practically clear. It can be built up however and I added three coats for the below pictures. I usually like my nails to be quite bold but my mum would adore this barely there light pink.
Malibu is a super bright coral pink and looks gorgeous in the sunshine. I can imagine this will be one of the most popular shades in the collection as its a very universal colour.
Starkers is a taupe-y nude shade. It’s quite brown toned but looks very chic and will be a great shade for work, and wearing all year round.
The bottles are a really generous size – 12ml for just £1, which is such a bargain! I really like that they have nice long shaped brush handles, which makes them really easy to paint with and often you see stumpy little bottle tops on budget nail polishes.
I did find the consistency of the polish very thick and a bit gloopy, so it came out quite patchy on my nails and gave a very grainy effect, as you can see here. It is blimmin hot in London right now (and my boyfriend gets very annoyed when I put my nail polish in the fridge haha!) so this could be a contributing factor. However a good slick of topcoat and it smoothed this over and gave a nice shiny finish. I used three coats on each finger to try and counter act the patchyness of application and each layer dried nice and quickly, as it says on the bottle.
These four are all really lovely colours and I actually like how they look all worn together too! They’re great value polishes for just £1. They do apply quite thickly and unevenly but it’s nothing a bit of top coat can’t fix and they’re so cheap you can’t really complain. I’ll definitely pick up more colours next time I’m in PoundWorld and think these would be really great for people who don’t like to spend a lot of money on nail polishes or younger polishaholics looking to add to their collection.
Have you tried out any of the Miss Beauty London range?
Also, how do you keep your polishes to protect them from the hot weather?
