So it’s July and THE SUN IS FINALLY OUT HURRAH! Despite the miserable relentless rain we had in June, I still had a crazy busy, fun month, with one of my oldest friend’s hen do and wedding, and another besties Disney themed 30th birthday party (see below for my homemade R2D2 costume!) I also completed some big projects at work and presented at a conference, all whilst (most importantly of all!!) keeping up with LOVE ISLAND, phew!
Right, let’s kick off with my favourite of the faves. LOVE ISLAND! Despite running around like a blue arsed fly all month, I’ve found time almost every single night to watch it. I LOVE IT! I’ve even subjected my poor dad to watching it a few times who has been absolutely horrified and summed it up pretty well when musing “so it’s like Big Brother, but instead of tasks, they just have sex?!” Yep, pretty much! It’s absolute trash tv but I can’t get enough of it! Nathan and Cara for the win! I’m legit worried about what I’m going to do with myself once it’s all over on Monday! Sob!
Now I’ve set the tone for being ridiculous….. if you follow me on Snapchat (pickleemsy – hit me up) you may have heard me talk about my sleep shopping problem! Basically I sometimes seem to buy things online in my sleep and then forget that I’ve done so, until I get a confirmation email the next day or the item turns up at my door! Sounds ridiculous but it costs me a fortune haha! Although at the end of last month I actually made a pretty darn useful purchase for once! Obviously asleep me had had one squashed banana too many and decided to remedy the situation by ordering this bad boy. It is BRILLIANT! I am yet to find a banana that doesn’t fit in it (and trust me I’ve been picking the really curvy and really straight ones to put it through its paces!) It’s been brilliant at keeping my bananas protected in my tote bag on the way to work and is probably the best £1.85 I’ve spent in ages! 10 out of 10 recommend!
This is an absolute TUNE! I have been listening to this non stop throughout June – it’s such a fun summer song and I love the empowering lyrics. This is my go to shower song at the moment.
Every summer a giant purple upside down inflatable cow takes over the Southbank, housing the Udderbelly Festival – a season of theatre, art, comedy and music. My girlfriends and I went to see Gobsmacked – an amazing acapella and beat boxing show. It was so good and their talent literally left me gobsmacked! I’ve always wanted to learn to beatbox and am even more inspired now after seeing Ball Zee, the 3 time UK beatbox champion, perform. The sounds this guy can make are seriously amazing! The show was so fun, with a selection of popular songs performed with nothing but the voices of Ball Zee and the six singers. The show is on until 17th July and I definitely recommend grabbing yourself a ticket if you can. It’s also worth stopping by the Udderbelly festival just for dinner / drinks as there’s lots of bars and food stalls all set in a cute woodland setting with Pinterest perfect lanterns, fairy lights and giant jenga – what more could you want?!
I featured some gorgeous little pony hair pumps by Butterfly Twists in my May Favourites, and the babes decided that as the weather had been so terrible they’d send me some of their fold up wellies too! Thank you! I absolutely love these short ankle length boots as they’re perfect for wearing around London – keeping me warm and dry without looking like a wally in full length wellies. The black rubber and grey fabric cuff combo are really stylish and again they’re great for wearing around the city as they don’t immediately look like wellingtons, though they do have some bolder colours if that’s more you’re bag (as well as full length styles). They’re super light weight so nice and comfy for wearing for long periods of time and I’ll definitely be wearing these at SW4 festival in August.
I wore a matte liquid lipsticks practically everyday in June. I find matte finishes are so practical for big events such as weddings and work presentations as you know they’re not going to smudge it all over your face or find it wears away as you talk / eat / drink. Lots of people have been raving about the Sleek Matte Me Liquid Lipsticks so I had to pick up a couple of shades to try. I went for Birthday Suit, a brown toned nude which makes me instantly feel like Kylie Jenner and is great for channel long my inner 90s babe! Petal is a bright cool toned pink which I’ve loved rocking on the odd days we had some beautiful sun. They’re really good quality – very pigmented, super comfortable to wear and very long lasting. For £4.99 each they’re a right bargain and I can’t wait to pick up some more of the shades.
June 2016 shall be forever known as the month I finally found a brow product I am comfortable wearing and applying – take a bow HD Brows Eyeshadow Palette – 001 Bombshell! I use the shade Ash and find it is a perfect match for me. The brush included with the palette is really good quality and applies the product quickly and nice and evenly. The palette also includes Naked – a beautiful peachy shimmer which is just gorgeous under the brow bone. LOVE!
*Thanks so much to Butterfly Twists for sending me their amazing Eton Wellies. All thoughts are honest and my own. For more information please see my Disclaimer Page.
I live in Brixton in London. I eat out far too much, am always planning my next trip and have a borderline unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter.
