Favourites // June 2015

July 4, 2015

I’ve been blogging regularly for over two years now (and actually created my blog 4 years ago) but have never ever done a monthly favourites post! Say whaaaaat?! I absolutely adore reading these posts and watching them on YouTube and thought it was high time I put my own together. So here are my favourite things from June 2015.

Jurassic World

Top of my favourites has to be Jurassic World. I am a HUGE Jurassic Park fan (I used to watch it every single day when I was younger) I’d been counting down the days until the release of Jurassic World and was so so pleased with how they did it and absolutely adored the references to the other films and books throughout. Yes I cried at the end. Yes I cried in the middle. Yes I am a 10 year old boy at heart.

Another thing I watched and loved throughout June was Broadchurch. I missed it when it was on TV (and somehow managed to avoid all spoilers) and my boyfriend and I really got into it. I love having a series to watch and with Pretty Little Liars being a once a week thang I needed something to fill the gap. I’m also super proud that I managed to guess the killer in the very first episode. Now if only I could work out who A is….

Louise Live

Another watching thing! I had the absolute pleasure of going to see Louise Live on the 20th June. I’m a massive Sprinkle of Glitter fan, and whilst I may not be Louise’s typical demographic (and felt sooooo old standing in the queue by myself!) I really love the positive messages she spreads. The show was so fun and Louise is just as hilarious and lovely in real life as she is in her videos. I was also really excited to find that Meg from Beautiful You was sitting just 5 seats down the row from me! We’ve been trying to set a date to meet In Real Life for aaages so it was great to finally get to meet her and her sister Bryony!

Seventeen BB Magic Blemish Balm

I’ve been wearing the Seventeen BB Magic Blemish Balm everyday for the past month and really like what it does to my skin. It feels super light on and smooths out my skin tone nicely without looking like I’m wearing any make up. It’s also SPF 25, so is perfect for wearing during the ridiculously beautiful weather we’ve been having.

Maybelline ColourSensational Lipsticks

I love wearing lipstick everyday and the two I’ve been reaching for more than any others are these gorgeous Maybelline ColourSensational Lipsticks. I picked them up in a 2 for £10 deal at Superdrug and am just obsessed with them! They’re really creamy and moisturising and sit nicely on my lips without bleeding, as well as having pretty good staying power. Purple lips are my absolute favourite and 220 – Sugar Plum is a really wearable shade which  seems to compliment all outfits. 725 – Tantalizing Taupe is also my favourite nude right now – it’s just the right shade for my skin tone and is great for a low maintenance but chic look. Highly recommend!

Scunci InstaTwist*

My hair / fashion favourite has to be the new Scunci InstaTwist. I am quite a low maintenance kinda gal, especially now it’s summer – I literally wash my hair and leave to air dry. Precious little, if any, actual styling gets done to it. My hair is quite fine and very thin so I find nothing much lasts long anyway. However I have recently been loving the Scunci InstaTwist hair styler to jazz up my look in the most easy peasy way ever!. It’s so simple to use – you literally clip two sections of your hair in, push the lever up to twist the clipped hair sections, then push the lever down to twist the two sections together, creating a really cool (and totally effortless) braided effect. It literally takes two minutes and is so simple to use (seriously, if I can do it anyone can do it!) I’ve been loving playing with different styles and my favourite has to be the “Angel Twist” which you can see here. It’s really good for me as it keeps my hair away from my face in the heat (thin hair + hot head  = limp Gollum locks!) but also provides a bit more oomph than if I’d just scraped it back (perfect for balancing out my MAHOOSIVE forehead) It’s such a cool gadget and great for all ages as its so easy to use. I used to work at a summer camp in America and the kids (and counsellors) would have loved it and it would be so amazing to take to festivals too as it’s battery powered.

Herbal Essence Clearly Naked 0% Volume Shampoo & Conditioner

More hair heroes! These Herbal Essences shampoos smell absolutely incredible! It’s a really fresh grapefruit scent which I find quite invigorating. I’ve signed up to take part in the Shine Walk for Cancer Research so have been doing lots of walking training with the team from work and making the effort to walk home from work lots too. I’ve been dying for a shower when I get home from work to freshen up and these products make my hair feel so clean and I get that oh so satisfying squeaky sound when using them. They don’t give my hair as much volume as other shampoos I use (hello Samy Fat Hair) so I don’t tend to use these in the morning but for a nice evening freshen up they’re perfect. They’re also silicone, paraben and colourant free which is great for sensitive skinned gals like me.

That’s all my faves from June, I hope you’ve enjoyed having a nosy at what I’ve been loving! I’ve really enjoyed putting them down in a post so think I’ll keep doing monthly favourites from now on. What are your June favourites?

If you’ve done a blog post or video please leave your link below, I’d love to see.
