It’s that time of year when it’s finally acceptable to get your feet out hurrah! It’s not the most glamorous of topics but something we all have to deal with so I thought I’d share with you my Summer foot care essentials to get my toes in tip top condition (and ready for public view!)
I love to use an exfoliating foot scrub to really soothe and soften any dry skin. This Superdrug one smells of peppermint which is very refreshing and makes my feet feel really invigorated. It contains jojoba seed oil and aloe vera to soften the skin and has very fine exfoliating beads which are nice and gentle, but also get to all the little lines on the bottom of my feet. This cream leaves my feet feeling as smooth as they do after a walk on a beach. Ohhh if only I lived by a beach and could do this regularly instead!
Every few weeks I also like to use my Diamancel Diamond Food Buffer #11 Medium which is fantastic at buffing off any hard skin on the balls and heels of your feet. I walk a lot around London and put my feet through their paces so it’s really nice to give them a really deep pampering using this Foot Buffer. This foot file is made using industrial grade diamond chips so it buffs really easily and also will last a long time.
Scholl Dry Skin Instant Recovery Cream*
I have super dry skin in general and feel like I am constantly moisturising my body! I always make sure I keep my feet moisturised too and the Scholl Dry Skin Instant Recovery Cream is really hydrating and helps keep my feet nice and soft. It’s super thick and really does feel like an instant shot of moisture! I also absolutely adore the smell of this – it’s a really traditional rich moisturiser smell, and just makes my nose so happy, as well as my feet!
Unfortunately I do suffer from a cracked heel from time to time (gross – no one wants to see that when the flip flops come out) I like to use this Superdrug Cracked Heel Repair Cream as well as the Scholl all over foot moisturiser. I find it gives extra protection against a cracked heel and has a yummy peppermint scent just like the Exfoliating Foot Scrub.
I like to wear these Moisturising Socks at night after I’ve put myScholl Dry Skin Instant Recovery Cream on to help maximise the absorption of the cream and lock in the moisture. These do make me feel really hot though so on really humid days I will wear them for a couple of hours in the evening while chilling out before I go to bed as I find it so hard to sleep when I’m overheated.
Pretty Nail Polish
We all know I’m a bit of a polishaolic and I cannot bear to have unpainted toes (and could never wear open toed sandals without pretty polish on my tootsies!) I love to wear bright colours on my feet, especially in the summer. My favourites are bright turquoises (like Models Own Hyper Gel Turquoise Gloss) a bold blue like this Kiko one and you can never go wrong with pinks, reds and purples.
Scholl Fresh Step Shoe Spray*
I tend to wear my trainers to work in the morning and change into open toed sandals when I get to my desk. This Scholl Fresh Step Shoe Spray is a lifesaver (especially for my colleagues I’m sure!) I like to think that my feet don’t pong but I always give my shoes a quick spray after each time I’ve worn them to keep them fresh and prevent any sweaty feet smell! It’s a very clean, powdery smell which is pretty universal and unisex too so I think this is something everyone needs to use this summer! (I’ve certainly been making my boyfriend use it too!)
So there you are, that’s all my summer foot care essentials for keeping my flippers fresh and pretty in the sunshine!
What are your must haves for soft summer-ready feet?
