In case you hadn’t noticed from my blog, I’m a little bit infatuated with London. Understatement of the century! It’s just such a beautiful city! Even though I’ve grown up here, I still love to get out and explore as I know there’ll always be something I haven’t yet discovered. So I was really excited to be invited by Joe Blogs Blogger Network along to a Best LDN Walks tour of the most Instagrammed places in London in association with GiffGaff.
London, bloggers, photography and Instagram. What more could a girl want?!
We gathered outside the IMAX cinema by Waterloo station and I met up with Katy, Becky, Erica and Laura before being handed a packed lunch style dinner to munch on the walk (Joes Blogs knows the way to my heart – kit kats and crisps!) We were then introduced to the lovely Charlotte from Best LDN Walks, who was our Spiffing Tour Guide for the evening and Phil who was going to give us all sorts of photography tips and tricks along the way. We started off by heading up to Waterloo Bridge, which did you know was designed by women and is made out of self cleaning materials?! Girl power!
We then headed down to the South Bank and meandered along the river admiring the street art, skater park and Christmas market along the way. This is my favourite part of London and I miss the days when I worked nearby and could make the walk daily. There’s always so much to look at and I love seeing the lights of the city reflected in the river. We strolled up to the London Eye and got some beautiful views of the blue fairy lights illuminating one of my favourite sights. This is a stunning spot and one I have photographed many times before so it’s no wonder it is the most Instagrammed place in London (and no wonder I couldn’t resist putting it in my post twice!)
The lovely Sarah joined us at this point and just in time too as we headed to my favourite part of the walk – the Leake Street Tunnel. This is literally one of the coolest places I’ve been in London and can’t believe I had never heard of it before! The tunnel is the only place in the city where it’s legal to spraypaint after Banksy painted a sign saying it was legal and people believed it. Banksy now rents the tunnel from the council so it actually is legal to grafitti here. And grafitti we did! I sprayed a little Pickle and Becky did some beautiful Harry Potter art. Weirdly I also learnt that whilst I am left handed, I actually use a spray can with my right hand! Who knew?!
We then strolled over Westminster Bridge, stopped to gawp at Big Ben and continued down Downing Street and up to Trafalgar Square where we stood in the very centre of London (cue obligatory foot photo!)
I had such a good night and loved hearing all Charlotte’s hilarious facts and tales about London. If you want a fun, informative and frivolous romp through the capital then definitely give one of the Best LDN Walks a go, they certainly live up to their name!
Also, if you’re a blogger and haven’t yet signed up to Joe Blogs then go do it now! Seriously, they’re amazing. They always put on really fun blogger events (remember the Juicing event?!) are all really nice and do the best blogging newsletter around (honestly, 12pm Friday is one of the highlights of my week!)
