Midweek Manicure | Key trend: White nails

June 10, 2014

I’ve always been a massive fan of white nails. They always look so cool, go with any outfit, and provide the perfect base for some jazzy nail art. White nails are huge news at the moment so I thought I’d give you a quick look at some of the white polishes in my collection.

1) Ciate (Dolls House Collection) – Paper Doll

This is a lovely little white which dries matte and has a chalky look to it – a very pretty and unique finish. (You can see my review of the whole Ciate Dolls House Collection here)

2) No 7 Stay Perfect – Snowflake

This is a pretty average white polish, a bit thin and watery. I usually tend to use this when doing gradient nails using white as I don’t mind wasting it!

3) Models Own Hyper Gel – White Light

Shock horror this Models Own polish is my favourite white. (I swear I don’t work for Models Own – I wish! – I just think their polishes are AMAZING!) it’s a strong, bold white which dries opaque, with minimal bald patches and a lovely shiny finish. Pickle’s Top Pick!

4) LA Colors – French White

This is a very tippex-y white. It’s brash and thick which I quite like, however it’s quite cheap and can chip easily. I use this a lot in nail art and again for doing gradient nails when I want a stronger finish than the No 7 Snowflake gives.

5) Primark – White (part of a set)

I was actually quite impressed when I tried this white polish out. As you can see from the pictures, it doesn’t leave a perfect finish, but for a Primark polish it’s not at all bad and can be layered to give a better look. However, as with the LA Colors polish, it doesn’t last long, and doesn’t give a particularly bold finish either.

So there you go – a look at the white polishes in my collection. The Models Own Hyper Gel White Light is by far my favourite pick for a bright, bold and glossy finish. This is followed by the Ciate Dolls House Paper Doll which also leaves a fabulous, strong look but with a unique matte finish. The most disappointing has to be the No 7 Stay Perfect – Snowflake, which at £6 is also the most expensive of the bunch. It’s a very thin, weak colour which leaves a very lacklustre impression on the nail and the mind!

Which other white nail polishes do I need to add to my collection?

I recently used a seche one ( I think from a birchbox or something?) and really loved the effect! I didn't expect to, I thought it would be a little streaky, but I liked it :)Sophiehttp://what-sophie-said.blogspot.co.uk/xxx

I've been converted to white polish after trying the Barry M Coconut gelly – I'm thinking that the Models Own one is going to be my next dabble into white nail polish, it's so bright! The Life & Times of Belle
