Whilst browsing through some fab new blogs this week, I stumbled across Gingerbread Smiles, where the lovely Danni is hosting a blog challenge. A nail art blog challenge! Wahoo! Luckily I was just in time to take part in what will be a 5 week series, with Danni setting a new theme each week. So here is my first post for you today: Week 1 – Nails inspired by an outfit / item of clothing. *excited squeal!*
I seem to have bought quite a lot of black clothes in the Christmas sales (which you can see HERE) which although classic, aren’t terribly inspiring for a nail art challenge! So I decided to have a little browse online to see if anything else took my fancy. My eyes were immediately drawn to this River Island black mixed print colour block bowling bag. Whilst probably not something I’d buy myself, I loved the mix of monochrome and neon yellow, and the variety of patterns involved. Perfect for a nail art challenge!
So here is my interpreNAILtion (sorry) –
Black & white striped thumb – Barry M Matte – Espresso and Barry M Nail Art Pen – White.
Matte black pointer finger – Barry M Matte – Espresso.
Neon yellow swirl middle finger –Barry M Matte – Espresso and Accessorize Nail Art Pen – Glitter Yellow.
Gold hardware detailing ring finger – OPI – Spark de Triomph over Barry M Matte – Espresso.
Nude leopard print pinky – LA Colors – French White with Models Own – Nude Beige, and Barry M Nail Art Pen – Black.
So there you go! I’m pretty pleased with this mani, its nice and interesting and eye-catching! Though I had a bit of trouble with my nail art pens suddenly splodging colour all over the place! (WHY do they always do this?!?!)
I’m looking forward to next week’s challenge – Nails Inspired By A Film or TV Show! I’ll be posting that as next week’s Midweek Manicure post, so be sure to check back and see what I’ve gone for! And to whet your whistle you can check out my Breaking Bad inspired Midweek Manicure which I did to celebrate the final episode in October!
Also be sure to check out Danni and everyone else’s mani’s, she’ll be posting a round up of everyone’s designs on Sunday.
What do you think of my bag inspired mani?
