I’m really excited to write about this product toady as I am absolutely LOVING IT! It’s so good that it has actually knocked one of my favourite everyday essentials off its top spot and become my new holy grail hair brush – it’s the Denman Tangle Tamer Ultra Brush* woop woop!
If you’ve read my blog before, chances are you’ve heard me banging on about my dream of having long luscious mermaid locks with more volume than Ariel herself. Sadly for me I have very thin, fine hair which gets extremely knotty very quickly, and as soon as it gets wet it’s more tangled than tousled and more mangled than mermaid. Le sigh. Last year my boyfriend bought me a Tangle Teezer which – as I wrote about here – really revolutionised my hair care. Finally I could brush through my hair with ease, without too many tugs or coming away with more hair broken in the brush than on my poor thin haired head. Well the Denman Tangle Tamer Ultra has revolutionised my hair once more and I now find myself reaching this, rather than my trusty Tangle Teezer.
But why? Despite them both having very similar bristles which alternate in size to grip hold of the hairs and soothe them out straight and smooth, there are some big differences between these brushes. The Tangle Tamer Ultra has a handle for starters which I find so much easier to use (I blogged before about how I sometimes find it hard to get a good grip on my Tangle Teezer and often drop it. Doh! So ham fisted!) The handle of the Tangle Tamer Ultra means I can get a much better grip on the brush, making it much easier to comb through the knots, and it’s still a really light hair brush to hold. It is quite a thin handle however and I think if it were a tiny bit thicker it would be even comfier to hold. The handle has made the Tangle Tamer Ultra so good for using after swimming too (when I swear some kind of water sprite must swim behind me tying my hair in sailors knots!) Its really kind to my damp hair, gently gliding through, and the handle gives me a lot more grip in my wet hands.
The Tangle Tamer Ultra is also a much larger, paddle style brush and so combs through my hair much quicker than the smaller palm sized Tangle Teezer. The Tangle Tamer Ultra is designed for long thick hair but I find it equally great on my long very thin hair as it can take the ends in one swoop, meaning I have to section it much less, my hair is being brushed through in fewer strokes and so there are less chances of breakages. I’ve noticed my hair is a lot smoother with less frizz too. Hurrah!
The only thing which I have found to be less than perfect with my Tangle Tamer Ultra is the fact that it is quite tricky to remove hairs from it. I find the hairs get so intertwined with the bristles it’s uber tricky to pick them out to clean my brush. With my Tangle Teezer they just seem to lift off easily whilst I’ve actually had to use tweezers to extract some of the hairs from my Tangle Tamer Ultra. But I guess this is a small price to pay for the rest of it being so good! 😀
The Tangle Tamer Ultra comes in 5 fab colours – blue, orange, yellow, pink and of course gorgeous green. They retail for £12.50 each and can be bought online at www.denmanbrush.com
