Midweek Manicure // Illamasqua – Scarab

It’s all gone a bit high end at emsypickle.co.uk today! Autumn is well and truly here and as I posted a few weeks ago, I am loving deep dark berry reds at the moment. Today I’m going to share one of the glossiest most decadent of these delights which also has a wicked metallic sheen running through it which makes it perfect for glamming up for Halloween too – all hail Scarab by Illamasqua (isn’t the name awesome too?!)

I love how this polish looks in the bottle – the metallic glimmer makes it look like bottled silk – so pretty! This prettiness is taken to another level on the nail and is actually much darker than the bright red it appears in the bottle. On the nail the shimmers are obviously much less concentrated and so have a richer cranberry like colour and almost look gold toned in some lights. The result is a mega glossy and glam mani – perfect!

Scarab paints on so beautifully, giving a thick even coverage in one coat. It also dries really quickly which I was surprised and impressed with. It’s a lovely dark red which looks almost brown in some lights, yet shines out brightly in others. I’ve taken photos in a variety of different lights below to try and show all of these looks! (excuse the slightly blurred first one, it was the only way to really show off the metallic sparkles!)

I think Scarab is a gorgeous shade for AW and is a great way of giving your Halloween look a sophisticated twist – think vampy vampire or bewitching witch!
