I’ve got a bit of a confession to make – I have never ever fake tanned! Yep, pale and interesting, that’s me! (Or more like pale and lazy – it just seems like such a lot of effort, and knowing my luck I’d totally come out looking like a patchy oompaloompa!) However I do love the idea of having nicely tanned legs this summer, so when the babes at Nip + Fab offered to send me a couple of products to help me pop my tanning cherry I happily said yes please!
There’s a big buzz in the beauty world about hip brand Nip + Fab, largely because Kylie Jenner is their new ambassador – hey if it’s good enough for Kylizzle! I was kindly sent the Nip + Fab Shimmer Leg Fix* and Hyaluronic Fix Body Gel* to try out and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
The Shimmer Leg Fix is described as being “a golden hydra-cream moisturiser for luminous legs” – fancy! Its a bit like make up for your legs (and is great for tanning novices like me who aren’t quite ready to commit to full on all over self tan). It’s a wash on wash off product which gives your pins a beautiful bronze glow. It’s really lovely and very moisturising which is great for me as I do suffer from very dry skin (a major reason I’ve never tried regular fake tan). Shimmer Leg Fix is the perfect name for this product as it does help fix and soothe skin and also adds a gorgeous bronze colour with a subtle shimmer running through. It’s really easy to blend in and absorbs into the skin leaving you feeling non greasy and the golden tint is quite natural which is nice. It does sit slightly sticky on the skin when first applied but soon sinks in completely leaving no residue at all. This will be perfect in the summer when I finally ditch my tights and get the bare legs out – a quick application of this in the morning will mean I’m good to go knowing I won’t be frightening people away with my pasty pins. It’s subtle enough too that you could just put it on your legs, without looking like you forgot (or couldn’t be bothered!) to do the rest of your body. The Shimmer Leg Fix also has a lovely, fresh soapy scent which I really like.
The Hyaluronic Fix Body Gel is “a fast absorbing moisturiser specially formulated with hyaluronic acid to provide intensive hydration for soft and plumper looking skin”. Just what I need! As well as hyaluronic acid it contains vitamin e to soften and moisturise and aloe vera to soothe and calm. I’ve never tried a gel moisturiser before and was intrigued to see what it was like and I have to say I’m very impressed! It absorbs so quickly and doesn’t leave any kind of film on the skin like some moisturisers do. It sinks right in and is not greasy at all. I think this will be really lovely on holiday as it’s gel consistency is much more cooling on the skin than a traditional cream. I’ve been enjoying using this after I’ve showered at the gym as I find gym changing rooms to be the hottest place on earth (why gym why?! I’m all sweaty and exhausted from a work out, please pump some cold air in there!!!!) The Hyaluronic Fix Body Gel however cools down my skin whilst giving it an instant shot of moisture. I’ve also found this gel great for applying before going to bed as again it is quite cooling. I always find I wake up with really soft skin and I love using it on my legs the evening before I’ll be using the Shimmer Leg Fix to give them even more of a silky boost. A little goes a long way with the gel too, and I find it easier to control how much I squeeze out than with a cream which is a thinner consistency. It’s pretty much an all round winner!
I’m so impressed by these two Nip + Fab products. They’re both totally affordable too – just £9.99 for the Shimmer Leg Fix and £7.99 for the Hyaluronic Fix Body Gel which I think is incredible for the amazing results you get from each. I will definitely be checking out more from the range, and will of course share everything on here too 😀
