Vanilla, but definitely not boring
You may have seen a little while ago I picked up a couple of the new A/W13 Matte finish nail paints by Barry M. Well I couldn’t wait any longer to give them a try, and decided to wear the gorgeous pale neutral shade Vanilla. The word “Vanilla” is usually quite a negative to me – as it makes me think of boring, unadventurous and plain things, however this is definitely not true of this lovely polish!
I’m a big fan of matte finish polishes, as think they look quite sophisticated. They also let the colour stand out more, as you’re not distracted / blinded by the shine! Vanilla is definitely a sophisticated shade, and it is perfect for work. It’s a neutral greige colour, with purple undertones, which make it very wearable and perfect for all seasons.
As with all Barry M polishes, it applied well – the thickness of the brush just makes it so easy to glide on. I used two coats, but you could definitely get away with just one, as it’s a lovely pigmented shade.
The only thing I’m not super crazy about is the fact that (because it’s a matte finish) it shows up all the ridges in my nails (*sigh- definitely in need of a manicure!). In my experience this is common of all matte polishes, not just this one, and I should have known better and buffed and smoothed my nails before painting them. What can I say, I just couldn’t wait to play with this polish!
