Fashion // #DOPANDORA Summer 2018 Wedding Collection

Nothing says summer like a fresh flower crown, and nothing says wedding like beautiful jewellery. Put your hands together and what have you got? PANDORA’s Summer 2018 Wedding Collection Flower Crown Making Event of course - and what a cracker it was too!

blogging-event-pandora-flower-crown-making-workshop-wedding-jewellery

I rocked up to The Ivy Chelsea Garden on Tuesday super excited, and also quite nervous - I hadn’t been to a blogger event in quite a while, but was looking forward to getting back into a routine which I used to love, meeting some new friends and checking out PANDORA’s new bridal and wedding jewellery collection. The Ivy is of course a favourite spot for instagrammers, with its absolutely stunning exterior of fresh yellow and white flowers - the perfect place for a flower crown making workshop! After being ushered through to a beautiful conservatory type back room and given a glass of Champagne - they know the way to my heart - I soon settled in and got chatting to lovely Abby from PANDORA and some of the other bloggers there. It was then time to get our flower crown making on! After a quick run down on the different types of flowers we were going to use (whose names I don’t  remember but were all bloody beaut) and the technique to use, we were off! Yikes!

Without having much of a vision - why change the habit of a lifetime - I picked some pretty pink, purple and white flowers that looked like they’d probably go together - and a bit of green foliage for good measure - and set about making my flower crown. Bloody hell its harder than they made it look! It was actually rather therapeutic though - snipping the flowers with just enough stem to attach to the length of wire, and wrapping around the green gutter tape to secure it in place. The key to success is apparently to make sure all flowers point in the same direction and sit on the same side of the wire so they don’t poke into your head when you rock your crown - which I managed to do fairly well waheyyyy! They other key is to be quite delicate with your tape wrapping so you don’t accidentally squeeze the heads off your flowers as you go - something I failed to manage to do, and had to do several patch up jobs to replace my beheaded blooms. RIP my pretties.

Once all of my wire was covered in flowers, I attached a ribbon through the looped ends, so I could wear my crown and I was pretty pleased with my end result, even though it was far less fabulous than some of the creations the other girls had made! I was going for subtle yeah... Everyone looked stunning - fresh flowers really do look gorgeous, so perfect for weddings, festivals, or just a fun Tuesday evening in Chelsea!

I then went to explore the gorgeous jewellery PANDORA had bought along - SO MUCH SPARKLE!!! PANDORA is such a classic brand, synonymous with quality and affordability. Their pieces are so universal they really do make the perfect presents, and are a great idea for brides looking to treat their Bride Tribe. When I was Maid of Honour my friend gave me a beautiful PANDORA silver bangle which I always get so many compliments on when I wear and it’s classic design goes with everything. I didn’t get too many great pictures of the jewellery as the lighting just wasn’t doing them justice but I did fall in love with this beautiful Hearts of PANDORA Halo Ring - so simple but really pretty and striking.

PANDORA also very kindly gave me this gorgeous Classic Elegance Necklace which is my favourite piece from the collection - I just love how sparkly it is, and can be dressed up or down. I also love that it is set in the centre of the chain - the chain doesn't run through the charm, so you won't find the end of the necklace having worked it's way around to the front to ruin any elegant wedding photos. They also gave me these super cute little Enchanted Crown Studs which are so sweet, and would make the perfect present for a really girlie girl or younger bridesmaid. So adorable!

I had such a lovely evening with the PANDORA team - thanks for having me guys! It’s put me right in the mood for summer wedding season, and I can’t wait for my next wedding in October. We’re actually doing flower crown making on the hen do too, so I’ll be able to wow the girls with my flower power, and dazzle them with my jewellery game.

What’s your go-to wedding jewellery style?

Favourites // May 2018

It’s June. It’s summer. Where is my summer body please? Oh yeh, I was meant to work on that wasn’t I. Hands up - I was quite lax in the gym department in May, yes, even after giving it the big I am in AprilI’m getting back on it for June though - nothing like the return of Love Island for some gymspiration! My arm muscles have actually been yearning for a bit of Body Pump - apparently they’re not satisfied lifting pints of beer and slices of pizza....! Besides my lack of gymming I had a great May - what’s not to love about two bank holidays eh?! We were so lucky to actually have some awesome weather to enjoy too!  I survived the GDPR deadlines at work - thank Christ that’s over! - had a glorious week in Tuscany, went to London Zoo and got to spend lots of time with my dad and best mates, including a trip to the Royal Albert Hall to see Planet Earth II Live in Concert. Ermagaaaaaahdsoooooogoooooddd!

5 Days in Tuscany - Pisa and Florence

Let’s kick start with the biggie shall we! Andy planned our Tuscany trip for my birthday and we flew into Pisa, spent a day and night there and then got the train down to Florence. It was absolutely stunning, I’ve never seen architecture like it, and the views across the city from the hills were amazing. It was fairly stormy when we were there so we didn’t make it up into the hillside vineyards unfortunately but that just gives us an excuse to go back. We had so much fun wandering around, stopping here and there for beers and buratta and just generally had such a lovely time. I’ll have some blogs up soon about it, but for a sneak peek check out my Instagram

ZSL London Zoo

We went to London Zoo over the first bank holiday weekend, which is one of our favourite places in London. It was the first time I’ve been since I volunteered on a game reserve in South Africa, and it’s definitely very different seeing these beautiful creatures in captivity. However they all seemed pretty well taken care of and happy which was good. Andy and I always seem to have some really good animal encounters when we go together, and this time got to see the two baby gorillas frolicking together, including one of them wandering around with a sack on his head and falling over repeatedly which was ADORABLE! And a snake eating a rabbit whole. Which was less adorable. But still pretty epic! The London Zoo lates are coming back this summer so we’ll definitely be making a trip back for these too.

Planet Earth II Live in Concert at the Royal Albert Hall

In the middle of the month we took a trip to the Royal Albert Hall to see Planet Earth II accompanied by a live orchestra. We actually originally bought two sets of tickets for this, each buying for the other for Christmas and neither of us - thankfully - able to keep it a secret from each other! It was absolutely amazing and bought tears to both of our eyes it was so magical haha! Yep we’re *that* couple! We also got tickets to a talk with Chadden Hunter afterwards too, who was one of the producers on the series. It was such a wonderful day - it’s always a treat to go to the Royal Albert Hall - it so beautiful, and the music really was incredible to hear live and with sections of the show played on the big screen. They also surprised us with ACTUAL HANS ZIMMER coming out on stage which was awesome! My best friends Kiffy and James also got tickets so we had a great time having drinks afterwards as well. The perfect Sunday (resulting in a terribly hungover Monday!) We’ve got tickets to Blue Planet Live in Concert for March 2019 too, so hopefully that will be just as epic.

Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipsticks

I’m a big fan of Seventeen, it’s one of the few beauty brands I’m guaranteed not to have an allergic reaction to. So I was pretty devastated to find they’re now discontinuing the brand booooo! However this does mean their whole range is up to 70% off online - I’ve been stocking up right nice I can tell ya! I made sure to load up on their B.B. Cream which is my ultimate go to, as well as some foundations, highlighter and eye shadow, and also picked up these Mirror Shine Lipsticks in Pouty and Belle for just £1.49 each. Obsessed! They’re really pretty colours and super easy to wear - either giving a sheer wash of colour or buildable for a more opaque look. Go go go!

Love Island Season 2

Yes Love Island season 4 is back with a vengeance, and like any true fan, I got prepared by rewatching my favourite season over on Netflix! I loved Season 2 - it was the first one I watched religiously and also think it was the best one - where the contestants went in for more than just scoring a blue tick on Twitter and a clothing range with In The Style. Plus who could forget the moment Malin went back in to confront Terry for banging Emma the second she was out the villa?! QUALITY TV VIEWING!! I’m sure I’ll have plenty to say about the new series this time next month, let me know your thoughts below. So far I think it’s a bit of a slow burn with noone I’m particularly loving, but I’m hoping Adam, Eyal and Hayley are out ASAP! Ohhh I’m getting sucked in already!

Primark Polka Dot Cami

A fashion favourite this month - this cute little polka dot cami from Primark. It’s super lightweight, making it perfect for wearing in the muggy weather we’ve been having, is just the right length and I love the v-neck and v-back. Plus it was only £4! I’m tempted to buy a back up in case I somehow lose / destroy / wear out this one! Well for £4 it would be silly not too. They’ve got it in loads of other patterns too so I definitely need to grab one in some form or another.

Primark Platinum Peony Candle

I’m a sucker for a good candle and lighting one as soon as I get home is part of my daily routine - straight after bra off, hair up. I got this beauty from Primark, and originally bought it just because I liked the look of it, but it actually has a lovely light floral scent which fills the room nicely. It’s so nice in the summery evenings and I’ll definitely be repurchasing when this one runs out.

Driving

Bit of a random one here, but my mum went away in holiday for a week at the end of May so I got to keep their car at my house wahooo! My dad had to go and stay at a respite care home for a week while she was away, so I drove over frequently to hang out with him and give him a bit of company. I’d never really driven on my own before so was a bit nervous but I loved it! It’s made me so much more confident, given me experience of following a satnav and - most importantly - let me have the radio on as loud as I want it when driving! It helps that they’ve got a convertible too so I was able to cruise around with the hood down and enjoy the sun at the same time. Note to self though, people can hear your road rage swears when the roof is down. Soz and that.

So that was May. Can you believe we’re now half way through the year?! June is shaping up pretty well so far, with my friend’s hen do, celebrating mine and Andy’s first anniversary nawww, spoiling my dad for Father’s Day, and sorting through all my crap ready to move in early July yikes! And the gym. I MUST GO TO THE GYM!

What were your May highlights?

Lifestyle // Personalised Father’s Day Gifts from Cheerz*

My dad Curly is my hero, and I always like to make a fuss of him come Father’s Day. He’s a right little trooper and I count myself very lucky to have a dad that I get on so well with as friends, rather than just as a parent. That being said, he’s a right bugger to buy for! He adorably (slash infuriatingly) never tells me what he wants as he never wants me to “waste” my money on him. In the same vein, he’s also pretty good at treating himself to things he does fancy. So what the hell do I get him? <Insert Love Island voice> CUE THE PERSONALISED GIFTS!

Personalised pressies are perfect for Pops who have it all and give that little something extra to show you care. Cheerz have an amazing selection of personalised photo gifts which are perfect for keeping your favourite memories alive.  They’ve put together some special Father’s Day deals - including these gorgeous Framed Photos and Polaroid style Retro Magnets. What’s more they’re only £15 each, so you don’t have to break the bank to treat your dad.

I love this photo of my mum and dad, it was taken a few years ago at an afternoon tea and whilst the tea itself was pretty average we had so much fun sitting out in the sun and catching up. Until now it’s pretty much just seen the light of my Instagram grid (and what a light that is...) I find it’s very rare that I get any photos printed or developed now I use my iPhone or Olympus PEN to take photos, which is why I love Cheerz so much - they give you a really simple and cost effective way to print out your images in a beautiful and high quality way. The wooden Framed Photos are really nice quality and you can choose a variety of sizes and finishes, as well as to use a single image or create a collage (as I did before here).

lifestyle-blog-fathers-day-gift-ideas-personalised-photo-cheerz-discount-code

My dad LOVES art and photography, and finds it great therapy for coping with his Parkinson’s Disease. His usual routine is to take photos of landscapes he likes, or finding scenic pictures in the paper, and then painting his own from this. These Polaroid Retro Magnets are perfect for having a selection of images ready to go, wherever he is, as well as being able to brighten up the radiator in his art studio. He doesn’t get out and about too much these days so I printed out a mix of old snaps from his travels and some scenic pics from my trips as I’m dying for him to paint me something!

The magnets look awesome, I went for the classic white border but again you can choose to customise them with a variety of colours, and even add text to the bottom. Cheerz products are so simple to create - you can either use their website or mobile app, pick out your pictures and upload as many as you like. Then add any customisations and you’re good to go!

lifestyle-blog-fathers-day-gift-ideas-personalised-photo-cheerz-discount-code

As a special offer for Father’s Day, you can pick up both items for just £15 each (Framed Photo usually £22 and Retro Magnets usually £17) and there’s some other great Dad’s Day offers too - go go go! If that wasn’t enough, you can also save yourself an extra 10% off your orders with the code 10PICKLE. You. Are. Welcome. Be quick though, as the last day to order in time for Father's Day is Monday 11th June (standard shipping) or Wednesday 13th June (express shipping).

How are you celebrating Father’s Day this year?

Favourites // April 2018

So despite my promise I would do a Favourites post each month without fail in 2018, I didn’t quite get round to March. The month seemed to fly by, mostly taken up by my SPECTACULARLY EPIC HOLIDAY! Yep, I know I haven’t gone on about it enough.... ahem .... but my trip to Iceland and New York really was as magical as I hoped (and then some!) I’ve got some blog posts coming soon about it as I don’t want to forget a single thing, but if you want a little taster you can check out my Instagram where I documented all of our adventures. April is also slightly late as it’s been crazy at work since I’ve been back (anyone else having all the fun with new data protection laws?! GDP-ARGHHHHHH). April was a nice month though, with lots of catching up with friends and family and being asked to be my best friend’s bridesmaid (roll on 2020!)

Michael Kors Jet Set Travel Bag

You may remember in my March Wishlist I was hankering after a Michael Kors Jet Set handbag, and of course I couldn’t resist picking one up while I was in New York. I almost didn’t buy it, as I also treated myself to a DKNY bag that morning. No you get too frivolous on holiday. I decided not to go for the saffiano leather version however, as I prefer my bags to be softer and more flexible, as it’s so much easier to get things in and out of. After A LOT of umming and ahhhing, Andy spotted this quilted version which I love! It’s got silver hardware, which makes it really different to the rest of the range which is mostly gold detailed. The leather is beautifully buttery soft and it also fits a hell of a lot inside - I can even squeeze my Olympus PEN camera in, so it’s basically my dream bag. Plus it was 30% off wahey! The only thing I’m not too impressed with however is the fact that it didn’t come with a dustbag but hey ho! I’ve been wearing it non stop since we got back and it’s such a classic design I know it’s going to be a long term favourite.

CaseApp Palm Print Phone case

I upgraded my phone before I went on holiday to the iPhone 8 Plus, which was great for taking photos on. I decided to revamp my phone case too, moving away from the white and  grey marble I’d had for the last few years and going for this beautiful palm print one from CaseApp. I’ve had their cases before (review here) and they’re such good quality - really light but sturdy and the print is really pretty. I used one of their preset designs but you can also personalise them if you wish too. £24 for a phone case may seem steep but it’s lasting and wearing really well, and brings the Club Tropicana vibes to me on the daily. Which I am all about.

The Honeymoon by Tina Seskis

I had planned to read a new book a month this year, but that has fallen completely by the way side! I did however blitz through The Honeymoon in three days in April. I couldn’t put it down! It’s a crime thriller which unfolds as you read it, told by an unreliable narrator who you’re never quite sure if you trust or not - my kind of book! It skips between the present (where Jemma is on her honeymoon, finding her newlywed husband has just gone missing) to the past (where we learn all about their complicated relationship, the lead up to the wedding, and ultimately the events that unravel to reveal his whereabouts). It’s written in short sharp chapters, often a couple of pages each, which keep the pace up, and make it perfect for commuting. 10 out of 10 recommend.

ASOS Debossed Marker Pink Tonal Watch

I love my grey strap Cluse watch, but decided I needed a bit of a summery wrist refresh! I’m loving pink at the moment (as you may have been able to tell from my recent Nike and Ted Baker goodies) and really liked the simplicity of this rose gold and pink watch from ASOS. And it was only £12.50 in the sale. Bloody bargain! They’re still in stock too, so go grab one!

OGX Hydrating Macadamia Oil Shampoo

I’m a HUGE OGX fan and have shouted their praises many times on my little blog. My go-to shampoo and conditioner is their Thick and Full Biotin & Collagen volumising set, but I’ve been mixing it up with this Hydrating Macadamia Oil Shampoo to give me a bit more nourishment. This soothing shampoo is infused with macadamia oil as well as sugar cane and bamboo extract, and really helped breathe some more life back into it, leaving it shiny and soft. Now I’ve chopped off my dead ends I’m going to keep using both this and my trusty old volume one to keep my hair in top top condition.

Pure Gym

Yep. It’s happened. I have finally rejoined the gym! I’ve been really enjoying getting back into classes and am thinking of taking a couple of PT sessions to get me confident on the gym floor as well, as that’s one area I still feel super self conscious and inept at! Whilst Pure Gym is still more expensive than I’d like - £36.99 per month - that does give me access to pretty much all of their gyms, so I can mix and match which one I go to so I’m not limited and can choose from heaps of classes. I also love how easy it is to book and cancel classes and view the timetables using the app. So far I am loving Pure Combat, Bootcamp and a bit of Zumba and I am also upgrading to full membership (£42.99 pm) so I can get back into my old classes at London Victoria, as you really need to pay for premium access there to even have a hope of getting booked onto one of the more popular classes. I’ll keep you posted.

Alpro Coconut / Almond Milk Overnight Oats

As part of my new health and fitness kick I’ve also been meal prepping like a bad boy! Inspired by lovely Naomi Victoria I have started making overnight oats. I’m trying to cut out dairy from my diet and have been loving mixing my oats with either coconut milk and a tablespoon of cocoa powder for a bit of a sweet kick, or most recently and preferably, dark chocolate almond milk. Yum! They’re both so delicious and make for such a yummy start to the day. I tend to use 40g of oats and 90ml of milk, give them a stir and leave them in the fridge over night. So quick, so easy, SO GOOD!

lifestyle-blog-monthly-favourites-alpro-coconut-milk-dairy-free-overnight-oats-slimming-world-healthy-breakfast-recipes

I’ve really enjoyed posting this, so really do want to get back into writing on my blog regularly. May is shaping up to be another fun month too - any month with two bank holidays is a winner for me! I’ve also got a long weekend in Tuscany coming up in a this weekend so I’m very excited to commit carbocide for 5 solid days. Better keep up that gym routine in preparation....

What have you got planned for May?

Send me any book recommendations, I need a new The Honeymoon
