Favourites // January 2016

January is over and out (and didn't it drag on?!) I can't believe we're in February already though, it seems that this year is set to go by just as quickly as the last! Christmas seems like a lifetime ago but February brings its own celebrations in the shape of pancake day, Valentine's Day and my 30th birthday yikes! It's also a leap year so who knows what magic might come with an extra day?! Before I get too excited about what's to come I thought I'd have a little look back at my favourite things from January.

Val Thorens Ski Trip

A couple of weeks ago I went on a ski holiday with my boyfriend and 12 of our best friends to Val Thorens in France and it was one of the absolute best holidays of my life! I want to do a full post about it (watch this space) so won't go into too much detail here but I had so much fun frolicking in the mountains with some of my favourite people and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. I'm still a rubbish skier but I enjoyed it a lot more this time than I ever have before and even if I had a bad afternoon on the slopes, après ski fun with my friends made it all worthwhile. My boyfriend and I always buy a magnet of places we've been to which is what I've included in the photos here, I'll include some actual photos from the trip in my full post. You can have a peek at my Instagram page for a little preview though!

Amazon FireTVStick

I thought I'd stick (hehehe...) with the lifestyle theme and talk about my new Amazon FireTVStick. We got given this for Christmas and it's brilliant! We couldn't previously have actual TV on the telly in our bedroom, so I'd always just have DVDs on or watch YouTube on my iPad. Not anymore! This bad boy simply plugs into the back of my TV and let's me watch Netflix, iPlayer etc on my TV. Brillopads!

Pretty Little Liars Books

Another thing I got for Christmas was the Pretty Little Liars books. My brother and his fiancé know how much I love the TV series so thought I'd love the books too. I've always really enjoyed seeing how books are adapted for film / TV and what changes are made and it's so interesting seeing what parts of the show are totally new, what was inspired by the book series and also just how different they are! I've just finished the sixth book and whilst I definitely prefer the TV show, I'm really enjoying the books. I also want to read a lot more in 2016 (I really got back into reading in the second half of 2015) and these are perfect for a quick wind down before bed - super simple and easy to take in (I'm about double their target demographic haha!).

Primark Sea Salt Breeze Candle

My last lifestyle favourite is this Sea Salt Breeze scented candle from Primark. I included a sea salt scented candle in my September 2015 favourites post and unfortunately I haven't been able to find another one of those anywhere wahhh! Luckily Primark came to the rescue with this gorgeous jar candle for just £3. Bargain! It smells amazing - nice and fresh and clean, and burns really well and lasts for a long time. I've already gone out and bought a couple more (which is why the one above is brand new) and I'm so tempted to buy a whole bulk load in case they ever stop making them!

Stella and Dot Pearl Spike Cuff

I've got one fashion favourite this month - this beautiful pearl and silver spike cuff from Stella and Dot. I've never owned anything from this brand before but I absolutely love it and will definitely be having a look at the rest of their range! Cuff bangles are my favourite style of bracelet and I love how unique this one is. The pearl is super girly but the spike gives it a tough edge and it looks amazing with everything I wear - dressy or casual. Pearls also have a special meaning in my heart as it's what I call my mum. Aww!

PS Cuticle Oil

Before Christmas I got acrylics and absolutely LOVED THEM! I can't wait to get new ones put on this week ready for my birthday on Sunday but my word they wrecked my nails! I had them taken off just before I went skiing and my nails were so thin and weak I spent all week trying to save them as they snapped and flaked away - ew! One thing has really helped nurse my nails back to health and surprisingly it was just a pound or so from Primark! The PS Cuticle Oil has given my nails back so much strength and health. The nail polish brush means it's so easy to apply and it absorbs really easily, so you're not left with hands dripping in oil. I've been keeping this on my desk at work and applying it a couple of times a day to really hydrate my nails.

OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner

I took the OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner away with me on my ski trip and loved it! I always find my hair takes a bit of a battering when skiing as it is crammed into a helmet during the day with the ends exposed to below freezing temperatures and snow. In the evening it's then blasted with a hair dryer as it's far too cold to let it dry naturally. The OGX Renewing Argan Oil range however meant my hair still felt soft and nourished and smelt amazing! I've featured OGX products in my favourites before and am so excited to discover more of their products as I've loved everything I've tried so far. They have a couple of new launches coming, out this February - the Niacin3 & Caffeine and Coconut Curls ranges, both of which I was kindly given at their press show last year, so keep your eyes peeled for full reviews of those.

Valentine's Day // Personalised Presents from Cheerz

February is here which mean that, like it or loathe it, Valentine's Day is fast approaching! Finding the perfect gift can be quite hard, particularly if you're buying for a guy who's not into overly pink and lovey dovey stuff! Well Cheerz has the answer - their Valentine's Day photo sets let you print your favourite photos in either Polaroid style or photo booth strips and they can be personalised to be as romantic (or not) as you want them to be.

I wrote about Cheerz a couple of months back when reviewing their gorgeous white square photo frame which I absolutely LOVED! So I was very excited when they got in touch to tell me about their special Valentine's Day range which is out now! Their two products which are looking to help you get personal this Valentine's Day are the Love Strips (which are photo booth style pics) and Love Cheerz Box (which are Polaroid style). To create both products you simply go online and select the photos you'd like to have printed from your social media accounts or your computer. You can also play around with the order they appear, edit them, change the colours of the borders or even add text in a variety of fonts. Cool eh! It was so much fun picking out all the pictures - going for a mixture of photos of the two of us, with friends and family and a couple of pretty scenic images taken from our travels.

I decided to keep things nice and simple as Tony's not really the romantic type and I wanted something we could use and display all year round without looking like we'd forgotten to take down our Valentine's decorations. I chose to keep nice, clean white borders on all of my photos so we could display them at al times and so they'd go wherever we chose to put them.

personalised-valentines-day-gift-cheerz-photos-polariod-photobooth

I was really impressed with my photos when they arrived. Like my photo square they were of really good quality (though obviously the better standard of photo you choose to print the clearer it would be replicated). The Love Strips came in two little envelopes adorned with hearts and have more of a matte finish than the Polaroid style pics. The Love Cheerz Box pictures came housed in a gorgeous box, which is a really nice way to keep them all together and is pretty sturdy too so they don't get bent out of shape. They also both came with cute little branded heart magnets which I thought was really cute and so I'm sure we'll be using these to stick some of our photos to the fridge.

I think the Love Cheerz Box and Love Strips make such a great gift for Valentine's Day. You can choose up to 40 photos for the Love Strips (£6.50) and up to 45 for the Love Cheerz Box (£13) and they make such a cute and personal present for either a boy or girl. You could go one step further too and present them in an even more creative way like a photo album or frame, tuck a Love Strip into a book as a bookmark, or just hang them around the house to show off your special memories on the loveliest day of the year!

Be quick cupids - the last day to order your Valentine's Day photo gifts is Thursday 4th February. go go go!

You can also get £4 off your first order over £8 using the code EMM7ZA

Fashion // Whistle + Bango Monogrammed Bespoke Bangle

Monogramming is set to be a huge trend this year and I've been getting in on the action early with this gorgeous personalised gold and cream bangle from Whistle + Bango. They sell a huge range of beautiful jewellery and with their Bespoke Bangles you can have yours personalised to say what ever you like! They'd make a fabulous gift for your loved one this Valentine's Day, and I've even got a cheeky 10% off discount code for you...

I've been a long time admirer of Whistle + Bango, who launched in 2013 selling their Postcode Bangles which were spotted on the wrists of many celebs. Being a Londoner through and through, I loved that you could pledge allegiance to your favourite area in a fashionable way. Since then Whistle + Bango have expanded their range to sell Alphabet Bangles and now fully customisable bracelets, so you can choose whatever you want on them. The W + B babes must know how much I love personalised jewellery as they asked me if I'd like to become one of their Whistle + Bango ambassadors - yes please!

As one of their bloggers I got to have a first peek at their new bespoke bangles and I absolutely love it! They are fully customisable and you can choose what messages to have printed (I went for sleek and simple - my three initials) and pick from a variety of different colour combinations. I adore nude accessories so picked out the cream and gold option which I think look absolutely beautiful together, is really chic and goes with every outfit and every occasion.

The statement gold or silver plated bangles are made in London and are hand filled with glossy coloured enamel of your choice. My bangle is such great quality - very sturdy and the letters are beautifully crisp and precise. The bangles come in two sizes which is great for me as I have stupidly small wrists and often find this style of bracelet just hoola hoops round my arm and falls off! The smaller 59mm size however fits perfectly! There's a handy size guide on the website which you can print off too, to work out which one is best for you, which I found so helpful. Despite being of really high quality my Bespoke Bangle doesn't feel heavy at all and I keep forgetting I have it on at all until I catch a glance and swoon!

whistle-+-bango-personalised-jewellery-monogrammed-initial-bangle-celeb-discount-code

Whistle + Bango bracelets are amazing quality particularly for their price and best of all they also donate a proportion of profits to The Single Homeless Project, helping homeless people in London. So you know you'll be supporting an excellent cause whilst you still get to sport some beautiful jewellery! Win, win :D

You can also get 10% off women's and men's bangles* on the Whistle + Bango site with the code EMSYPICKLE10
