Midweek Manicure // Nails Inc Gel Effect Polishes The Holiday Edit

March 4, 2015

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may have seen that I got lucky the other week and won a gorgeous Nails Inc polish set from the fabulous Lucy at Pretty Little Things blogthank you Lucy! My prize arrived last week and I couldn’t wait to share it with you all, so here it is – a little peek at the
Nails Inc Gel Effect The Holiday Edit set.

The Holiday Edit contains 3 small bottles of the Nails Inc Gel Effect polish. I’m really excited to try these out as I always love Nails Inc colours but find their regular polishes chip like crazy on my nails, so hopefully the Gel Effects will last a bit longer. According to the packaging, the Gel Effect Polish

“uses triple polymer technology to give a super high shine finish with an amazing plumping effect. The flawless gloss effect is perfect for creating a gel look manicure in an instant, with no need for a UV lamp”.

Sounds good eh?!

The colours included in The Holiday Edit are Kensington High Street (a deep purple toned cranberry) Camden Road (a beautiful glitter top coat of clear polish with silver and dusky pink / rose gold particles) and Colville Mews (a sophisticated nude).

I absolutely love them all! I’m a sucker for deep red polishes and Kensington High Street is a beauty! I love the purple red currant undertones to it which really lift the color and make it look so pretty. Camden Road is also stunning and will look gorgeous layered over both the other two polishes in the set. I really like the mix of smaller white snow-like particles and multi sized rose gold glitter hexs which makes it so mesmerising to look at. I will definitely have some nail art featuring this pretty glitter up soon!Colville Mews is my least favourite of the three but is still lovely and is one of the glossiest nudes in my collection.

As you can see I’ve swatched these on a nail wheel, as I just couldn’t wait to get playing and share them with you so I can’t give a true report on whether the Gel Polishes wear better on my nails than regular Nails Inc polishes, however once they are on my nails I will of course give you an update! On first look they do apply better than my standard Nails Inc polishes, with a slightly thicker formula and a much less streaky finish with one coat. They are also super glossy so fingers crossed they will live up to their Gel Effect name. I have been wearing Kensington High Street on my toes since I received the kit and it’s not chipped at all which is a fab sign, and hopefully they’ll have the same longevity on my fingers too. Watch this space!

I think this is a gorgeous little set with three really cute and complementing colours. Although this was released for Christmas I can see that I will get a lot of wear out of all three of these polishes all year round. Thanks so much for my lovely prize Lucy!

Have you tried any of the Nails Inc Gel Effect Polishes? Do they last better than their standard polishes?
