InstaLIFE // w/c 10th August 2014

August 17, 2014

I’ve had another fun week this week, with trips to the theatre, some 5* hotel glamour and lots and lots of flowers!

On Monday I met up with Mamma Sue and my cousin Anna, and at the very last minute we decided to go to the theatre! I love a bit of spontaneity! It also means I can tick off an item from my list of 25 Things To Do This Summer! We had a good catch up over dinner at Pizza Express and then saw 1984 at the Playhouse Theatre. It was great to see as I haven’t read 1984(though have always meant to!) and thought the story was very interesting. I liked how it was staged but it was very intense, especially for a Monday night!

On Tuesday it was announced that Robin Williams had died. Dead Poets Society, Hook and Aladdin are three of my favourite childhood films so it was very sad news to hear, especially as he committed suicide reportedly due to depression and onset of Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s is a condition very close to my heart and hopefully his death will help bring to light these illnesses and help educate people about them, as they are often both quite misunderstood conditions. The Academy released a photo of Aladdin and the Genie with the caption “Genie, you’re free” which I thought was a lovely tribute and way to say goodbye to one of the worlds best loved actors and comedians. (If you are interested in finding out a bit more about Parkinson’s, I did a little post about it for Parkinson’s Awareness Week which you can read here).

As I wrote about earlier in the week, I was lucky enough to be invited along to the launch of W7 Cosmetics’ new Skincare range. I had a fab night, meeting lots of new blogger friends and playing with all the stunning W7 products that were on display. The event was held in the gorgeous 5* Cafe Royal Hotel, right on Piccadilly Circus. One thing I loved was the lift had one of those old fashion dials which spins as you go up or down floors. Very cool!

My Throwback Thursday post was a little look back at fun and frollicks in Edinburgh. My boyfriend took me there for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday a few years ago and we had such a great time. It’s such a stunning city with some really iconic locations and such a strong cultural heritage – not to mention some fantastic tourist tat!

14th August was my half birthday, so of course I had to buy myself a present (hashtag any excuse!) I was tempted to run off to MAC, but thought I should show a little restraint, so instead headed to Superdrug on the search for something new. I realised I’d never tried anything from B. and as everything was half price I thought now was the time! I went for this gorgeous lipstick in the shade Watermelon. I LOVE IT! I’ll probably do a post on it too so keep yo peepers peeled!

On Friday I was very excited to run down to Covent Garden on my lunch break and visit the Marc Jacobs #MJDaisyChain Tweet Shop. The idea is that you trade tweets for treats! My kind of shop! The pop up store was gorgeous with fresh flowers everywhere, as well as lots of cute little areas made to look like daisy fields. There were giant Marc Jacobs perfume bottles as well as teeny tiny bottles too! If you tweet the shop with their hashtag you can pick a free mini bottle of perfume to take home with you, or a coffee andMarc Jacobs macaroon! If you tweet a picture too you can also get a Marc Jacobsmanicure or a daisy patterned key chain! What a fab idea! I got a couple of perfume samples and they smell so so good! The tweet shop is open until Sunday this weekend so get on down there perfume fans!

Whilst in Covent Garden, I also spotted this oh so pretty floral perfume bottle of Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet outside the Dior shop. I couldn’t resist taking a picture and was given a spritz of the perfume by the Dior ladies outside too. It smelt amazing – really fresh and very floral – perfect for summer! What with this and my new Marc Jacobs samples, needless to say I was smelling very fresh when I got back to the office!

As you may have seen, I am doing a #GBBOchallenge baking series on my blog, where I am baking along with The Great British Bake Off each week. Last week I made a very scrummy (if I do say so myself) Yule log Swiss roll, which you can check out HERE. This week was biscuit week, so yesterday I tried my hand at the Technical Challenge – Florentines. You’ll have to come back tomorrow and read my GBBO Challenge post to see how I got on…

Another week another Primark trip! How adorable is this pastel macaroon print make up bag?! I love buying new make up bags and couldn’t resist this one. Primark has loads of good ones at the moment so it’s definitely worth a trip if you’re looking for a new one. I’m pretty sure I’m going to go back and pick up some more as I’ve been on a massive mission to clean out and tidy up my make up collection (and just really want some more of their cute cosmetics bags!)

I hope you’ve had a good week! Don’t forget to catch the week’s blog posts:
