Midweek Manicure | Fake Tattoos – Paper Aeroplane Mani

High flying nails

So you may have seen last week I posted about the temporary nail tattoos* I was sent by faketattoos.org.uk I was super excited to try them out and start playing with some fun designs! I had planned to try out lots of different looks and show multiple here, but I was so impressed with the one I went with first, and it lasted so well, I didn't want to take it off! So I will do a mini series of designs to show you all the different looks I try out. Here’s number 1 – the classic Paper Aeroplane Mani!

This is a well known design – having done the rounds on many a Pinterest board! I’ve always loved it and wanted to try it myself, but have never had steady enough hands to pull it off freehand! So when I received the Ocean Design* sheet, which included some little paper aeroplane tattoos I knew I had to give it a whirl!

First I painted my nails with the perfect blue sky colour (using the aptly named Blue Sky by NYC In A New York Colour Minute) Then I applied the paper aeroplane tattoos to my thumb nails, which was really simple:
  1. Cut out the design from the sheet
  2. Peel off the plastic covering
  3. Press the tattoo onto the nail, and then continue to press using wet paper
  4. Slowly remove the backing paper from the tattoo and the design should stick there

I then used my Models Own black nail art pen to draw a little dotted trail across my nails to show the flight path of the aeroplane, before sealing it all in place with a top coat.

It’s such a simple design to create, and looks really cool! I’ve certainly had lots of compliments for this Midweek Manicure! I was really impressed with the ease with which the Fake Tattoos* applied and also their staying power. I can’t wait to try out some more designs and share them with you soon!!!

What do you think of my Paper Aeroplane Mani?
